How to Use First Lexington Website

• SCHEDULES: , Click on the link (top bar) for your  or your child's section, Beavers, Cubs or Scouts or Venturers. You will see the current month's "Month at a Glance".

• "Drop down"  links  (similar to those below) will let you see the monthly calendar and another for long-term events such as camps. This information will be updated periodically so check it from time to time.
• 

• DOWNLOAD FORMS or ARTICLES: Forms and some pages on this site will be available in PDF  format. You will see a small "PDF" icon on many pages (including this one) near the upper right corner. Click it to download that web page in PDF. Many people already have Adobe Acrobat reader on their computer. If you do not, I suggest another free PDF reader that is about 1/10 the size of Adobe and works well. Foxit will read any form on this site. Download free Foxit  PDF reader .

• SEARCH this web site: Looking for information on, say, camping? Type "camping" into the "Search..." box that appears on most pages and press "Enter". You'll find several references to camping in the results. If you search for "Camp", you may get more results. If you are logged in, you'll get more results.

• EMAIL A PAGE to someone else:  If you find a page that you think may interest someone else there is often an email link icon near the top right of the page (including this one) and you can insert her or his (or your own) email address and send the link to them quickly and easily.

• PRINT A PAGE: You will see a small "print" icon on many pages  near the upper right corner. Click it to send that web page to your printer.

• COMPUTER SETTINGS: This site is best viewed at 1024 x 768 resolution( or higher). To change your monitor's resolution, RIGHT click anywhere on a Windows desktop and click, Properties. Click the Settings tab, then use the Screen Resolution slider to adjust the size and resolution. Then click OK. If you don't like it, do the same to change it back. Higher resolutions fit more on your screen but may be harder to read.

• PHOTOS: Use the Photos link and review the small "thumbnail" album pictures.  Click the small "thumbnail" picture of the album you want to see and it will take you to the whole series of photos. If you are viewing the individual  photographs, you can double click each small, individual photo to see it larger, or, in the upper left corner of the screen, click on "Slide Show" and it will automatically start playing through the photos. You can adjust the timing of the automatic advance and/or pause/resume playing it with controls at the bottom of your screen.
• • PowerPoint slide shows of some Scout level activities are available for download. If you are a First Lexington parent and would like a CD "burned" for you, please contact Derek Madge (see ScoutWebmaster on the Contact a Leader page). There will be a $1.00 cost to recover the cost of the CD.

• LOG IN: Some content is only available by logging in at the bottom of the MAIN MENU shown on most pages.
  • You must register first. Click the "Log-in or Out" icon on the right side of the Home page and go to the bottom of the page that appears. Click "Register" and follow the directions. To avoid spammers this site is only open to any Scout Leaders and to First Lexington parents. You will need to click on a link in an an email you receive after registering before being allowed to log in. This is to verify that your email is real. Spammers typically use non-existent email addresses.
  • If you have any questions, please use the Contact a Leader page on this site and send a message to the ScoutWebmaster with your full name, Group (ie: First Lexington Scouts, Waterloo, Ontario), phone number (Canada & USA) .
